Romance of a Lifetime

Have I ever been in love? I don’t think so.

Most girls long for the day they find “the one.” I do too, don’t get me wrong, but I know now that that will never satisfy. No matter how wonderful, how godly, how sensitive, how funny, how handsome he ends up being, I will never be satisfied with earthly romance if I don’t first explore my first and most grand love story.

Like all the great stories, mine has an author. No, it’s not Jane Austen crafting my romance, but the author of life itself. He’s been writing and planning my love story since time began. He also happens to be the romantic lead. Isn’t that beautiful?

My Jesus calls out to me. He beckons me to follow wherever he may go…

“My Beloved speaks and says to me: ‘Arise my love, my beautiful one, and come away, for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth and the time of singing has come.’” Song of Songs 2:10

He longs for me. Wait! Me??? Are you sure?

You’ve gotta remember, I’m the one who locks her keys in the car, the one who eats ice cream at midnight even when I promised myself I wouldn’t, I’m the one who didn’t do her laundry and wore the same socks two days in a row. Really? You’re perusing me, Lord?

This seriously blows my mind. I really don’t know what to say next. I guess just, “Thank you.” Really, Jesus, thank you.

Jesus created us to long for romance. He also is the only one with the capability to fulfill that immense longing to love and be loved. So find your love story first and foremost in his arms. His love story with you is the grandest, most adventurous, scariest, most amazing story ever written. I want to take the plunge and see where he takes me. What an adventure it is to follow someone who has no limitations and who loves me more passionately than anyone could!
